How much does it cost to get scuba certified in Utah? Class prices range from $400 if you have 3 or more people to $3499 for our Master Scuba Diver package. Call the shop to find the right class for you. Each student needs their own PADI Open Water manual, dive table and log book and have access to the PADI Open Water Diver DVD.
How much are scuba tanks worth? Scrap metal value of scuba tanks: A standard aluminum 80 cu/ft tank weighs about 31 lbs empty. At current rates, scrap aluminum is worth about $0.75 per lb. So the current minimum value of an aluminum scuba tank (without the tank valve) is around $23. A standard steel 80 cu/ft tank weighs about 35 lbs empty.
Are old scuba tanks good for anything? ​Old tanks are not necessarily unusable as scuba equipment. If the tank’s hydrostatic test date is passed, send the tank in for testing. Steel tanks have a very long life and steel tanks from the 1950s can still be found in perfect working condition.
Is PADI or SDI better? If you’re looking to become professional as a scuba diving instructor you may want to opt for PADI since it is the more well-known of the two. If you want to pursue diving as a career (and not be a dive instructor) then SDI may work better for you, given their connection to TDI.
